Viewing all your project's assets

Your asset list gives you a complete overview of the files uploaded in your project.

See how to manage files in the asset list inside the app.

If your asset collection is starting to get large and hard to organize, you may want to start managing your assets through a content type.

Table of contents

Every time a content contributor adds an image to a Rich text element or an asset to an Asset element, this new file will be stored in the project’s asset list.

In the asset list, you can:

    • Upload a new asset via drag & drop or by selecting a file on your machine
    • Search assets
    • View asset details
    • Change the asset title and description
    • Download assets
    • Delete assets

    Searching for assets

Find the assets you want by typing your query into the filter field. The search looks at asset titles, asset file names (including the file extension) as well as asset descriptions.

    Viewing asset details

Click any asset to open its details. In the asset details, you can write an asset description that will be used as alt text for images. Similarly as with your content, you can enter an asset title to help you keep your assets organized. You can also view the asset's metadata in the right panel.

    The metadata includes:

    • File name and extension
    • File size
    • Image width
    • Image height
    • Date of upload
    • A list of content items (and their language variants) in which the asset is used

    Getting asset URL

When you want to optimize the image by, for example, cropping it or changing its size, you first need to get the image URL.

To get the URL of an asset:

    1. From the app menu, choose Content & Assets .
    2. Click the Assets tab.
    3. Click an asset to open it.
    4. Click More actions .
    5. Click Copy asset URL.
    6. Click Copy to clipboard .

Tip: This is also a recommended way when you need to share a link to an asset with your coworkers.

    Deleting assets

You can delete an asset only if it's not used within any content item.

    To delete an asset:

    1. From the app menu, choose Content & Assets .
    2. Click the Assets tab.
    3. Click an asset to open it.
    4. Click More actions .
    5. Click Delete.

Note that when you try to delete multiple assets at once, only the assets that are not in use will be deleted.

    Restoring assets

When you restore a revision of a content item, which uses an asset that was deleted from the asset list, you will restore the used asset as well. The restored asset will appear in the asset list.

To revert to an earlier version of a content item, see Restoring revisions.
